Steering Rack Package with Fitting for the Discovery 5: a remanufactured steering rack with new track rod ends, fitted and aligned.

The Defender and Discovery front axle turns on swivel balls running in oil or grease, and the chrome on the ball pits and tears the seal. The symptoms are oil down the inside of the wheel and a failed MOT. Hub bearings and steering joints wear faster on a vehicle with larger tyres, and we size parts for that. The Discovery 5 is aluminium bodied and largely Ingenium powered, and it still runs air suspension and a two speed transfer box on most specifications.

Fitting

Labour guide: about 5 hours, included. Land Rover changes specification mid production, often by VIN rather than by model year, so send the VIN or the registration with the order and we confirm the part against the build data before anything leaves. Which version to buy

Remanufactured is stripped to the casting, measured, rebuilt with new bearings seals and wear parts and rig tested, with a surcharge refunded on your old unit. New Unit is a brand new unit rather than an exchange, for when your old one is past rebuilding or you cannot be without the vehicle while we assess the core.
