Every listing carries the chassis code, the engines it fits and the production dates. These vehicles still changed specification mid run, so we check the part against your vehicle before anything is dispatched.
How we check
Send us the last seven characters of your VIN, and the engine number if you have it. You can put them in the order notes at checkout, or email them to info@atautoparts.co.uk with your order number. If the part is not right, we contact you before sending anything.
Where to find your VIN
- On your V5C registration document, in the box marked E.
- At the bottom of the windscreen on the passenger side on most models.
- Stamped on the chassis on older Defenders and Discoverys, usually on the front right hand side.
Tyres and the driveline
On the Freelander 1, a large share of IRD and viscous coupling failures come from tyres that do not match. On later cars with a power transfer unit and rear coupling, mismatched tyres cause the same kind of damage more slowly. Fit four tyres of the same make, model, size and similar tread depth, and check them before fitting a new unit, or the new one will go the same way.
Coding and calibration
Some parts, including air suspension components, parking brake modules and some electronic units, need coding or calibration after fitting. The listing says so. We can do it at our workshop, or supply what your own technician needs.
Modifications and insurance
Lift kits, winches, snorkels, larger tyres and some protection parts change the vehicle from standard. Tell your insurer before you fit them. Listings where this applies are marked.
Emissions systems
We do not supply particulate filter deletes, EGR blanking plates, AdBlue emulators or defeat software. We sell the filters, valves and sensors that make the system work as it should.
