Air suspension fails as a system rather than a part. A leaking air spring makes the compressor run longer, the compressor gets hot and wears, and the valve block ends up working against both. Replacing the part that failed last usually means paying for the next one within a year. These packages replace the parts that wear together, and the conversions are offered honestly: coil springs are cheaper to run, lose the height adjustment and the ride quality, and need declaring to your insurer. The Discovery 5 is aluminium bodied and largely Ingenium powered, and it still runs air suspension and a two speed transfer box on most specifications.

Labour guide: about 5 hours. Which version to buy

OE Supplier is made by the firm that supplies the factory, in its own box rather than a dealer box. Same part, same line, typically 30 to 40 per cent cheaper than the dealer. Premium Aftermarket is a well regarded aftermarket maker that is not the original supplier. Generally good, and we say where the differences are.
