LT230 High Ratio Gear Set for the Discovery 2: a taller high range ratio that drops motorway revs on a vehicle on larger tyres.

The transfer box splits drive between the axles and gives the low range that makes these vehicles what they are. The LT230 on the Defender, Discovery 1 and Discovery 2 is nearly unbreakable if it has oil in it and is routinely found without. The two speed units on the Discovery 3 and 4, the Sport and the Range Rover are electronically shifted and fail more often at the motor and the control module than in the gears, which is worth diagnosing before you buy a whole box. The Discovery 2 is the Td5 era, with self levelling rear air on some cars and ACE active roll control on others, and both matter when you order suspension.

Which version to buy

Standard is the standard specification, which is what most vehicles need and what we would quote unless you told us otherwise. There is one specification of this, because it is the one we would fit to our own vehicles and a cheaper version would not be doing you a favour.
