Rear Drive Unit and Coupling Package for the Discovery Sport: the rear differential with the Haldex coupling, pump and filter, fitted and calibrated.

The IRD, or power transfer unit on the later cars, takes drive from the gearbox to the propshaft. On the Freelander 1 it fails because the viscous coupling in the propshaft line seizes and fights it, and the commonest cause of that is one tyre different from the other three. On the Freelander 2, Evoque and Discovery Sport the unit runs hot, the oil breaks down, and the bearings and seals go. Every unit here comes with the advice that stops it happening again, which is four matching tyres at matching pressures and an oil change the factory schedule does not ask for. The Discovery Sport shares its driveline with the Evoque and the Freelander 2 family, including the power transfer unit and the rear coupling.

Which version to buy

Remanufactured is stripped to the casting, measured, rebuilt with new bearings seals and wear parts and rig tested, with a surcharge refunded on your old unit. New Unit is a brand new unit rather than an exchange, for when your old one is past rebuilding or you cannot be without the vehicle while we assess the core.
