Air suspension fails as a system rather than a part. A leaking air spring makes the compressor run longer, the compressor gets hot and wears, and the valve block ends up working against both. Replacing the part that failed last usually means paying for the next one within a year. These packages replace the parts that wear together, and the conversions are offered honestly: coil springs are cheaper to run, lose the height adjustment and the ride quality, and need declaring to your insurer. The Discovery 3 was the first on the integrated body frame and the first with full air suspension as standard, which is where most of its bills come from.

Fitting

Labour guide: about 6 hours, included. Land Rover changes specification mid production, often by VIN rather than by model year, so send the VIN or the registration with the order and we confirm the part against the build data before anything leaves. Any modification that changes ride height, tyre size, weight or appearance must be declared to your insurer before you drive the vehicle. Raised vehicles need the headlamp aim reset and a four wheel alignment, and the MOT tester will look at both.
