A Defender or Discovery 1 is only as good as its chassis, and the original was painted steel that rusts from the inside out: rear crossmember first, then the outriggers, then the main rails behind the rear wheels. A galvanised replacement chassis is the permanent answer and adds decades to the vehicle. The bulkhead rusts in the footwells and along the top rail, and on a Defender it is the other half of the same decision. The Discovery 2 is the Td5 era, with self levelling rear air on some cars and ACE active roll control on others, and both matter when you order suspension.

Standard is the standard specification, which is what most vehicles need and what we would quote unless you told us otherwise. There is one specification of this, because it is the one we would fit to our own vehicles and a cheaper version would not be doing you a favour.
