Timing Belt Kit for the Defender 90: belt, tensioner and idlers matched to the engine, with the rear belt too on the V6 diesel.

Timing belts, chains, gaskets, injectors and the parts that keep these engines running. The TDV6 runs two timing belts, one at the front and one at the rear driving the fuel pump, and both need doing. The Td5 wicks oil up the injector loom into the engine management plug. Each listing states the known fault it is there to fix. The 90 is the short wheelbase and the one that gets used hardest off road, so the parts on it are the ones we see worn out fastest.

Labour guide: about 4 to 10 hours by engine. Which version to buy

OE Supplier is made by the firm that supplies the factory, in its own box rather than a dealer box. Same part, same line, typically 30 to 40 per cent cheaper than the dealer. Uprated is the revised or heavier duty specification, built for vehicles that are loaded, towed with and taken off road rather than parked outside a school. Genuine Boxed is in the manufacturer's own packaging with the manufacturer's number on it. Worth it for warranty work, lease returns or a car with full dealer history, and not otherwise.
